All wood screws provided for the both ends of the piston should be replaced with bolts that go all the way through as the screws can easily pull out and cause dangerous results ABS harm the user!

Hi Joe thank you for posting your feedback. Our hardware has always come with the current hardware to attach the parts. Many of of other Murphy bed hardware suppliers use the same type of hardware. Ten of thousands have built their DIY Murphy beds without any issues. It looks like the hardware ripped away from the panel due to either incorrect fastener placement or the mattress you used was way too heavy for the bed capacity. Our hardware has been tested up to 1200 lbs. Please contact our support team for help with your particular issue. Thank you.

The piston pivot plates in our Murphy bed system are engineered to be installed exactly as shown in the instructions, using the supplied structural wood screws and joint connectors. When installed correctly into the recommended wood (plywood or MDF), these fasteners are rated for the loads involved and are used successfully by thousands of customers.
In the photo provided, the pivot plates appear to be attached in a way that does not follow the recommended installation steps, which can significantly reduce holding strength regardless of the fastener used. Substituting hardware or altering the installation method can introduce risks we cannot validate or guarantee.
